Adorable! October 31, 2003 I don't even remember how I got this book but my oldest is now almost 4 and STILL loves it! She can find the balloon on each page and is noticing new things now that she's older. My youngest is 16 months and just started really enjoying Goodnight Gorilla each night at bedtime. When we get to the page with the zookeeper's wife in the dark (just the eyes), she laughs out loud! It helps if my husband and I make sound effects for the different actions and add our own words. We get as much fun out of it as the girls do!
Lovely book March 27, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really love this book. I picked it up by chance in a bookshop in New York, having never seen it here, and was totally charmed by it. It's simple and funny, with big colourful pictures, following the gorilla through the zoo as he opens all the cages, and follows the zookeeper home to bed. The gorilla's expression when the zookeeper's wife turns on the light and catches him is hilarious. I would recommend this sweet and original book to anyone with young children.
A wonderful little book, not just for babies October 10, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is perhaps the most delightful baby book in our collection! Everbody in the family loves it, from the toddler to his older siblings to the parents and occasional visitors. It is gentle, fun, with excellent pictures and a positive message.
A beautifully illustrated book for a creative bedtime read October 4, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Stella who is 18 months and I (mum) who is 36 years both love Goodnight Gorilla. The illustrations are fabulous using a wonderful palette of vivid colours. There is very little printed dialogue so the story is slightly different each time it is read or looked at, making this a very adaptable story. You can make it as simple as you want to or bring in more of the visual elements for a more elaborate story. The zookeeper thinks he has put all the animals to bed and wished them goodnight but the cheeky hero of the title has other ideas and his eye on an altogether cosier place for them all to spend the night! An enchanting book, even for someone like myself who is not altogether comfortable with the concept of zoos.
Our twin 14 month old girls favourite book - by far April 24, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
During a short trip to the States earlier this month we picked this book up in a supermarket along with a couple of others. They instantly fell in love with it, and is a regular request every night. We left the book on the aircraft on the way back to the UK, and we are purchasing a replacement copy by popular demand!
