A book that more than lives up to its title March 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You have to hand it to Marvel it was a stroke of genius to bring out another title for its most loved character to run alongside the Amazing Spider-Man and the successful Team-Up series; and it worked. I missed most of these stories first time round as I mainly collected the Team up titles and it was a pleasure to catch up on what I missed. The stories bring back a whole host of villains from Spider-Man's past Kraven the Hunter, Vulture, Morbius, Beetle, The Enforcers, Scorpion and the Masked Marauder, featuring Daredevil. There are also a few more recent foes Tarantula and the Hitman and new creations such as Lightmaster and a new more evil Hate-Monger. There's also appearances from Medusa and the Inhumans, from Angel and Ice-Man as the life in the Champions team flickers out, Moon Knight as he and Spidey take on the Maggia and their Gallic ally Cyclone and new allies in Razorback and the White Tiger. The real gem of this book is the last 7 stories where the cadaverous Carrion is introduced first confronting the Maggia and the Masked Marauder before he takes centre stage as his secret, and macabre, origin is revealed. This is a truly superb collection and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
