If like me you have been to some of these places and experienced the emotions of seeing these animals in their natural environment, then I don't think you will be disappointed with this book. Some awesome pictures. The book is vitually all photographs with some amazing fold-out pages. He manages to capture not only an image, but also the emotion of the moment. Fantastic book.

Steve Bloom is a talented photographer, and this book is filled with some terrific imaes. But the overall effect is diminished by his use of composites and digital enhancement. (Look at the animals in the falling snow - the snowflakes are the same!)Many, or even most of the pictures may be entirely genuine, but Bloom does not seem to understand that he undermines the power and credibility of his best work by mixing it with images that are obviously created on the computer. Instead of "wow", I'm left feeling "so what?"
