4 out of 5 stars A good read but by no means a classic   December 14, 2004

A tale of two very different teenage boys and the harsh reality of those who are popular and those who are desperate to be, one of whome has a lust for blood. Not Koontz at his best but still good stuff.

4 out of 5 stars Koontz has a knack of keeping you hooked.   January 9, 2000

This book deals with two main characters, both 14, one Colin, a bookish nerdy boy, the other Roy, a sporty looked up to boy. The story centres on Roy slowly letting Colin into his 'secret' - ie He likes killing things! The sense of forboding builds from almost the first page and builds to a decent climax. There are shades of Stephen King's Salem's Lot in that Koontz adds an old abandoned building that is central to the plot.

Roy leads Colin into his way of thinking and his mind, and the reader can see how Colin is easily drawn into his web.

This is a good yarn, and a book that can be read in a couple of days and is not heavy going. This is one of Koontz's 'believable' stories, in that there are no supernatural goings on, and is just a straight thriller.

3 out of 5 stars You will like it if you like Koontz   March 19, 1999

A book similar to other Koontz books: A secret Goverment project that goes wrong, a woman having nightmares, dreaming that her son is still alive and a ex-secret agent lawyer that fells in love with the woman and tries to help her.

Nevertheless, I recommend it. Easy to read and you will be hooked with it until the end. But not as original as some other Koontz's books.
