This book is brilliant for the new runner. I have never run in my life and I was finding it difficult getting hold of useful and consistant advice. As soon as I opened this book I just knew it was what I was after. It is simple, full of useful tips, interesting facts and it covers all of the major aspects of running in detail. It also has a variety of training schemes for what ever you want to do with your sport. If you are a beginner then this book is for you.

Okay - I'm in my 30s and I want to get fit. I'd tried running in my 20s and nearly killed myself by training the wrong way. I bought this book and followed a 13-week training programme that starts off with almost all walking and builds to a 60 minute training run or 10k race. The book gives the beginner all the info they need about shoes, stretching, avoiding injuries and the joy of running. I feel I'll outgrow this book pretty quickly, but I've already lent it to many other people. If you're a non-runner who wants to run, you can't go far wrong with this book.

Easily the best book I've read on the subject, it's simply perfect for beginners and even intermediate runners. It has answered all my questions clearly and without too much technical waffle. There's also the added bonus of a running log to keep track of your progress.

I was an absolute beginner when I started reading this book. It is very descriptive and provides an easy-to-follow training program that succeeds. I started running according to this plan and escaped a lot of injuries that overly ambitious programs cause.

I am happy that I purchased this book! I strongly recommend buying this book.

This book is wonderful for the beginning runner or walker. It lays out specific 13-week training schedules and gives you lots of advice. It also includes little stories about all of the topics on almost every page, to give a personal side to the issues.
