Much more than rivers April 28, 1999 This is excellent, engaging writing.Moore unfolds bits of her life as she takes us along various rivers. The result is poignant, memorable stories inspired by life outdoors.
nature writing and reflections on the art of living December 11, 1998 I enjoyed reading these short, short essays in little bites. The book's intriguing device is that each essay describes running a different river. Each river becomes the occasion for digressions on matters of life, love, family, and other philosophical musings--the author teaches philosophy. But this is philosophy grounded in the concrete daily life that we all struggle with and revel in. If you like nature writing rooted in the particular and the well-observed, as well as contemplation and self-reflection from a distinctly female point of view, and are looking for a book that is best read in snatches (good for parents of young children!), this is a perfect book for you.
