Excellent identification guide July 25, 2008 I was after a compact but comprehensive guide to British wild flowers and found it in this book. Identification of wild flowers and wild plants including grasses and rushes is easy with this book. The photographs are crisp and clear. Description of the plants and their uses is limited, but I definitely recommend this publication to anyone who is interested in knowing which plants they are looking at.

A delightful book; eminently user-friendly, with beautiful photographs and clear, comprehensive but consise information. I think it is suitable either for those with a keen interest or others who are new to flower identification. Yet it is also ideal for a family to take on their walks as the simple, straight forward key would be fun for children, encourage observation skills and be an insight into the beauty of our British flora. I learned my wild flowers in the south and saw many scarce and rare specimens. Now I have moved to Western Scotland, with this book in my hand and its clearly laid out pages of photographs, I'll know whether or not I should be looking out for northern versions of old favourites. A worthy successor to other well known wild flower guides.
