Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars simply beautiful   February 2, 2007

Timeless and simply beautiful to read, you can not stop reading it but you can put it down and pick it up again. I don't usually read books twice but I will this one. Living in the west country you can identify with the places and loose yourself in them. This book should be one every country lovers book shelf.

5 out of 5 stars Tragedy of Man despoiling paradise   September 28, 1999

The natural history of Devon as a minutely detailed backcloth to the tragic existence of a fine animal.Feel the joy of knowing that such a world existed, experience the shame of its being squandered and wring your emotions at the meeting of Tarka with the pathetic remains of his only son
