The devil's in the detail with this deceptively simple tale. The ads on Dad's newspaper; mother hampster knitting a new football shirt at the end; and my favourite, seeing a scene from Rathmann's 'Goodnight Gorilla' taking place in the background. I've enjoyed pointing all this out to my two-year old son and he gets a kick out of putting the pieces together. A book that encourages you to 'get into' the story. Good stuff.

Our baby simply loves this book - the hamsters going berserk means there's always something new to be looking at; it also helps bridge the gap between waking time and dreams. Loads of fun for adults too - of course, you have to take the time to enjoy it with your child otherwise it'll fall totally flat.

This is a picture book featuring fairly complicated, small drawings of busy hampsters running amok as a child prepares to go to sleep. My children, aged three and four years, simply had no desire to read it a second time.
