4 out of 5 stars Interesting read   November 3, 2007
I found this book very hard to put down, in my youth I was a big fan of bodybuilding and thought this book may give an insight to a bodybuilders lifestyle......(it didn't) what it gave was a highly interesting journey through one mans sturggle with himself and others around him.
The way the book jumps from present to past also makes its very captivating, a great read if your interested in purchasing this book be sure to book yourself sometime alone to read... it's that good.

4 out of 5 stars A good insight   September 20, 2007
I have read many books and autobiographies on the subject of bodybuilding and this is amoungst a few that has allowed me to gain insight into the 'hush hush' world of bodybuilding rather than just touch on the soft subjects such as personal life or just training.

The Weider brother's strangle hold on professional bodybuilding, steroid testing, the attempted WBF coup, contracts and endorsment deals, the subjects avoided by most autobiographies and books.

Although a somber, and at times bitter mood is expressed throughout the book, there is many areas a true bodybuilding fan will enjoy reading about and as to why Bob Paris became so disillusioned with the world of bodyubuilding.

This is a very good autobiography. In it we get to know the real Bob Paris and the inner conflicts within himself. The insider's view on the world of Bodybuilding is fascinating. I admire the author's integrity and he has a good, clear and easy to read style of writing.

5 out of 5 stars This book shows Bob Paris's passion for bodybuilding.   February 22, 1999
I really enjoyed this book. It shows Paris's love for the sport of bodybuilding. His persistence and hard work inspires me. Paris takes us back when he dreamed of being a bodybuilding champion. His life story is interesting and well written. Paris is a great writer as well as bodybuilder. I even make reference to his book in my book, Bodybuilding A Realistic Approach. I could really appreciate this book being a former bodybuilder myself. It reminded me of when I competed. Nice job Bob!!

1 out of 5 stars I hate it.   November 12, 1998

This has got to be the worst book I've ever read. It's the only book that I couldn't finish. I read the first 30 pages or so and then took it to Goodwill because I couldn't stand to have that God-awful thing in my house anymore.

All he does is complain about this and that and the other. The entire book (I scanned ahead) is written in the same angry contemptuous tone that really puts me off. "I hate bodybuilding and everything else, and now I hate myself because I don't know what else to do."

Jeez Bob, lighten up or get some help. Try gardening.

If you're not an all out fan - don't buy it!
