"Pure Inspiration" June 16, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What can inspire more than pictures? - this book has large, full-page colour pictures every time you turn a page! The ideas are mainly contemporary but include floral, ethnic and traditional designs as well. What's more every design is practical and could be 'lived in', unlike many other inspirational books of this kind. This book is a must if you are in need of inspiration for your home.
'101 Colour Schemes That Really DON'T Work! March 26, 2002 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
If I could give this book no stars I would. Savill has jumped on the contemporary design bandwagon, and produced a book that will lead you to create ugly, tatty, dated interiors. The spaces shown are uninspiring, the styling repetitive, and her sense of colour can be most kindly described as violent. Her one idea - flat garish colour - has been spread through this book as thinly as a layer of eggshell...Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Inspirational Colours and Design! December 10, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
With such a variety of colours and schemes to choose from, I was really struggling to make a colour decision for my living area. I came across this book, and it has really given me food for thought - challenging me with new colour combinations not only for my living area, but for the rest of my home too. How does an old gold, burnt orange, aubergine and sand coloured living room sound? Magnificent! The book is divided into the various rooms in the home, each with unusual but beautiful colour combinations and schemes - eg. warm vs cool. In one section, the author demonstrates how a basic room scheme can be transformed using a different colour, feature or accessory. This is a really useful and practical book for anyone who would like to experiment with colour.
