An early work from a lady with great expertise. February 25, 2005

Perhaps it's because she is a marine biologist that makes this author's photographs so exciting. Perhaps it's simply because she is such a good photographer. Perhaps it's a combination of the two. The one thing I do know is that Heather Angel is a world-class act when it comes to photographing natural history subjects and it is quite clear from this book (first published in 1972) that she has been a class act for a long time.It may be that some experienced natural history photographers have moved on to other works. If you didn't do that, I would seriously recommend snapping up a copy - while you can. Conversely, if you are new to Natural History Photography, gets yourself a copy of this book while stocks last and study it. In years to come you will return to this book time and again to re-learn some of the fundamental lessons found here. That's what I do. NM
