In my work with patients with eating disorders this book has been inspirational. For all those working with clients with addictions or disorders with addictive qualities and/or difficulties in motivation, this book is a godsend.

5 out of 5 stars Attention all addiction therapists!   November 21, 2000

In Motivational Interviewing, Miller & Rollnick have devised one of the most accessible treatment approaches for those working with an addicted client group. This approach builds on a well researched theoretical understanding of addictive processes, and of how people come to change their behaviour.

Most importantly to the worker attempting to assist and therapeutically engage with the addicted client, Motivational Interviewing is a counselling approach that has been clinically evaluated with a proven track record of effectiveness that matches any other approach. Even better, it is easy to learn, and understand. Reading this book may be the best thing you ever did to help your addicted clients! Seriously!

I also suggest you check the[ir] website ...

As a graduate psychiatric nurse who has worked for an NHS alcohol addiction service for 6 years I can truly say that this has been the book to most positively influence my clinical practice in all that time.

If you work in addictions, you need to (beg, borrow, or) buy this book!
