everyone should read this May 9, 2008 they really should, i love it and am recommending to all my young friends - and their parents!
Takes reading to the next level! May 6, 2008 My 8 year old daughter has been so taken with the Mr Gum series, she has read them all. This is the one she found the most funny. I have not seen her have her head in a book as often as she has with this one. I have also bought this for a friend's son too and he thoroughly enjoyed it (aged 8) Go ahead, buy it, read it and wait for the giggles in the background; they're guaranteed!
We all cried with laughter February 14, 2008 "Time for your medication Mr Stanton." On second thoughts. Stuff the medication and just write some more books like this. The man's a genius. Buy this book, I promise you, you will not regret it. The funniest book I have read for a long time - My boys aged 8 and 10 are now fighting over our 1 copy - literally!
Hilariously funny February 1, 2008 It was funny, really funny. The characters were good and you never knew what would happen next. This was my favourite book in the series.
laugh out loud December 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book to my 8 year old son. He laughed 'till he cried. Me too!
His comment..."I never used to enjoy reading until I read Mr Gumm."
It's the most bizarre, funny and imaginative book I've read in a long time. Cross Monty Python with Roald Dahl. Here's the basic plot...a grumpy and very untidy old man is forced to keep a pristine garden because if it gets untidy he gets hit over the head by a frying pan wielding fairy. When a dog messes up his garden, Mr Gum is forced to take drastic action. See what I mean about bizarre? But it really works. It's absolutely brilliant
And the other Mr Gumms are great too
