Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Better than any parenting guide............   February 23, 2003
10 out of 10 found this review helpful

This was almost the first and certainly the last 'parenting' book I read before my son was born almost 14 years ago -- all the others became superfluous. These essays are not a 'guide' in any sense you would recognise - more a message of lifelong support for the new mother. Their central message for me was beautifully simple - trust yourself and trust your baby - trust that your baby will tell you what he or she needs from you - and believe that you can provide it. This is a recipe for joyful parenting - all you have to do is believe in yourself, tune in and respond. That's what makes a 'good enough mother'. Liberating. Thank you Winnecott.
