3 out of 5 stars Clearly for beginners   May 18, 2008
This is nice book, if you are a beginner at photography that is. If you are a person that puts people in the middle of your pictures, in front of a monument, and take photos with a small digital camera, and you feel there is something not right, then this is for you.

If you plan on buying a book, you are already looking into making your pictures better. This book will take you up the first ladder to good photography. There is very little on technique - a few pages at most - just enough to go from simply pressing the button, to thinking a bit before taking a picture. The before and after photos are nice, as you see clearly the improvement explained in the text.

If you have already a book on photography or have some knowledge on composition and/or ISO, light colour, etc. then you are already beyond this book.

Worth every penny - I'm so glad I was able to get this here - I saw it in NYC when on holiday but when I returned to the shop their last copy had gone.

It does exactly as it says - helps you look through the camera lens and 'see' the picture rather than just snapping, and talks about all the things like composition etc but without making them boring.

If you're a new photographer - buy it!
