5 out of 5 stars Fantastic pix   July 26, 2007

This is a fantastic picture book and well worth the asking price of 10 from Amazon, I would be reluctant to part with the 20 cover price though!

It has only 114 pages, but every page has a colour photograph, with photo info on each and many have a basic description. I would have like to have read a little more info about the shoot and the ISO info might have been handy, but maybe I am being too picky!

This would make a great gift for a wildlife fan who likes looking at pictures or a photographer who likes to see the shutter speeds, lens and focal length etc used!

There is one mistake, the aperture on page 51 should read f4!! I asked!!

I am keen to check out the other books in the series as they become available, not all by Chris!

Some of the pictures are simply stunning, unfortunately Chris doesn't tell us exactly how he got them, esp the close up wide angle shots, interesting, or we would all be doing it if we had the patience!!

5 out of 5 stars A silent hymn and inspiration to professionalism   May 9, 2007

There is a quote by George Weston in Chris Weston's Wildlife Through a Nikon Lens "There's only one way to do anything. And that's the very best way you can." This statement by Chris Weston's grandfather has clearly influenced the well-respected writer, photographer and teacher's approach to his great love, photographing wildlife. Turning the pages of this very fine book it is evident that the author has a broad knowledge of his subject and is able to articulate the things that compel him to return again and again to look through the viewfinder of his Nikon camera, ever-vigilant, ever-patient, ever-resourceful for that perfect moment before depressing that shutter release and capturing the natural world. Each images rings with the silent hymn and inspiration to professionalism that his grandfather bestowed upon him. As does the page after page of advice and photographic technique by the author who also lists each item of Nikon equipment used and exposure details. Highly recommended.
