I laughed out loud while reading this book September 27, 2008 When reading a humorous book I normally laugh inwardly but The Garden of the Gods made me laugh out loud many times. It is warm and nostalgic and a total pleasure. Furthermore, there is wisdom in the child's view of the world that Durrell depicts so well.
an excellent conclusion to the corfu trilogy July 29, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Like the other two books depicting Gerald Durrell's life as a young boy on Corfu this book has the same childlike innocence, wonderful humour and enchanting imagery that Durrell is so famous for. A must read, and totally unputdownable...i didn't want it to end.
Brilliantly funny conclusion of the Corfu Trilogy: July 12, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Gerald Durrell does it again in this book succeeding in not only painting a true, vivid and beautiful picture of life on the Island of Corfu, but in regaling us with the humerous antics of his friends, family and his animals. A wonderful conclusion to the trilogy and a book that i would very much love to own again.
