The complete Backyard Nature Activity Book February 18, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A really nicely illustrated little book. As an American publication the 'backyard' contains 'critters' that seem quite exotic to the UK reader! The simple principles of creating a naturescape whether your plot is a backyard or a balcony are universal. This is probably a good book for children to use independently as many of the activities suggested are drawing, writing and recording. If you are planning to develop a wildlife garden with children at home or in school, this book would be useful. If, however, you're looking for lots of activity ideas, as I was, I think there are probably better titles available, like 'Nature Smart' with over 150 projects (again an American title) or Usborne's 'Activities for all year round.'
