5 out of 5 stars The Reef Set   May 10, 2008
If you dive or snorkel in the Caribbean this set of books is simply "a must have". Everything you need to know about everything from the largest sharks to the smallest molluscs are in these books. Absolutely brilliant!!!

2 out of 5 stars For Identification Only!   September 21, 2001

These volumes are for identification purposes of species only. They offer no information on the dynamics or interactions of reef ecosystems. The books are ring bound meaning great care will have to be taken to keep them in pristine condition, also to note is that the bindings are of plastic and not metal making them even weaker. The species listed are specifically for Florida, Bahamas and the Caribbean and the information offered on them I found to be sparse. A guide such as those published by Collins is far superior. If you are naturalist diving regularly in the above areas and wish to identify everything you see then these books are ideal. However, if you are a regular diver you will know most of the species listed already. For the price these books fall far from expectations.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, best 'Fish Finder' I have seen.   May 19, 2001

Having dived out in Tortola, I 'borrowed' his book, and found it invaluable to identify the hundreds of species of fish out there. Now I have purchased the Travellers Reef Set, and can increase my knowledge before my next visit. Absolutely invaluable to those who dive the area, and photographers/videoagraphers alike. Thank You Paul!

5 out of 5 stars Be careful ordering this set.   February 11, 2000

I gave the set 5 stars basically because the set itself deserves it. It is exceedingly well laid out, referencing the creatures and fish by shape and size etc, which after all, if you don't know what the fish is, is all you've got to go on. Photographs are excellent, and they are photos not drawings!, and the descriptions include habitat and reaction to divers. HOWEVER - the whole set refers only to Florida, Caribbean and Bahamas, a point that is not made. If you live and dive anywhere between the Maldives and Australia, the set is not what you're looking for. It is missing some of the most well-known, abundant fish in the Thailand, Malaysia, Bali belt, so trying to find a fish that you DON'T know is going to be impossible. But if you're diving off the East coast of USA - brilliant!
