In depth wolf info November 27, 2000 104 out of 104 found this review helpful
This is a very good book to have if you are interested in wolves. There is plenty of information on all aspects of wolf life, including their ailments, behaviour, social life, distribution (both former and present), as well as many examples of wolf ecological aspects over the years. There are pictures, both photographs and images taken of paintings, which display these aspects. It not only informs you about the biology of the animal, but also about the changing human view toward it. Once more there are examples given, of stories of werewolves, wolf-children, and the major detructive hunting which has taken place when man tried to eradicate this creature. Reference tables are provided, detailing bounties, existance in zoos, pack sizes, in various countries and states, and it even takes a seperate look at each country where wolves have existed, which is useful since most wolf books only concentrate on the American wolf. Well worth it.
