If your interest is chiefly in British birds, then this guide is brilliant. The illustrations are excellent and accurate with text written by authors used to leading bird tours and therefore with identification tips and explanations that really do help. The only other Amazon review for this guide (as I write this) states that is 'not actually that good' and that you should buy the Collins Guide instead. Having used both guides for several years, it should be said that that this pocket guide is not really intended as competition for the Collins. This guide, unlike the Collins, is actually supposed to be pocket sized (the clue is in the title)and deliberately covers a narrower range of species more than sufficient for British birdwatching. The Collins guide is the best but this guide definitely has its own place and is the one that I carry in the UK in particular. Truth is, you should buy both.

This book is not actually that good. The pictures are not, in my opinion, terribly accurate. For a few pounds more, you could have the paperback version of the COLLIN'S BIRD GUIDE, which will serve you much better and make things easier for you in the long-run.
