Falling in love with the de Burgh brothers.... December 6, 2007
I really enjoyed Taming the Wolf, the first book in the de Burgh family saga. In fact, I couldn't put it down. At times I wanted to hit Dunstan over the head because he was so darned stubborn and wouldn't listen to what Marion was trying to tell him. He had his honor to uphold and he was darned determined to deliver her back to her devious uncle.
In the end, however, he did see the light and although still stubborn he did show his softer side a little more often; especially with his brothers.
Like the Jude Deveraux's Montgomery's, I absolutely fell in love with the de Burgh brothers. At the moment I'm reading about Geoffrey and since I'm still in the midst of the conflict between Elene and Geoffrey I won't write my review until I'm finished with it, but thus far I am really enjoying the book THE de BURGH BRIDE.
Much to my dismay though, I found that there aren't any further books about the last two de Burgh siblings; which is a shame as I would really like to know why Reynold is the way he is and why does he favor one leg. Then there is of course the youngest: Nicholas. Out of the two last brothers, who holds out the longest at succumbing to cupid's arrow? It is my fervent hope that Simmons will eventually write the last two books in the de Burgh family saga.
I am fortunate to even have the book THE BRIDES OF CHRISTMAS which contains the short story of their father finding a new love as well. I can't read that one though until I read about Simon (The Robber Bride).
I do so love to read books in order.
NO END TO THE DE BERGH SERIES October 10, 2006
I got one of the books from an old stack when we were cleaning out my grandmothers house and have been searching for the rest of the books online. I have not been dissapointed! Everyone is as good as the last. These are books I read over and over again and still feel the anticipation and tension between the characters every time.
The sad part is that without a current publisher Simmons will never be able to publish Reynold & Nicolas' stories.
I hold out hope that someday the right person will want these published and will have the power to do something about it.

This is the first book of the de Burgh family and my God I can't wait to get to the others if this one is indicative of what is coming. WOW!This is the story of the eldest son Dunstan deBurgh and Marion Warenne. It starts out with Marion being rescued by Simon de Burgh and brought to Castle Campion (home to the de Burgh clan)where she stays for the next 6 months before even meeting Dunstan - the eldest de Burgh son. Marion has sustained amnesia and after months of of trying to find out who Marion is the discovery is made and she is to be returned to her Uncle. After putting it to a vote of the 6 de Burgh brothers, Dunstan was elected to return her to her Uncle. Dunstan had his own property to care for and was very much aginst having to take the time to return this 'piece of baggage' back to her uncle. Marion still did not remember her past but knew, without a doubt, that if she was returned she would be killed. Consequently the trip to return her was one escape attempt after another as she tried to run away from Dunstan. Dunstan had his own problems, honor bound to do complete this mission his father gave him, and trying to tell himself that he was not feeling any kind of attraction to this 'little brown wren'. Stubborn to a fault, he did NOT believe in love and this was something that did not happen to real people. What a delightful trip! Naturally, these two get to spend some time together - alone - and what a reckoning this becomes! WOW - Dunstan is one lusty kind of knight and the passion is returned from this 'little brown wren' ! Definitely a page turner and one you must try to get your hands on because you will want to read this one over and over again! The best!

I found this book in my workers' lounge and truly enjoyed it. I could barely put it down. I know it's out of print... but if you can get a copy... you won't regret it. Happy Readings everyone!

I was sad to see this book end, it was so incredible and really drew me in. I felt a real connection to these characters and have read it again several times since because I was so involved with their story. If you are a medieval lover, and even if you're not, Taming the Wolf will take your breath away!
