4 out of 5 stars House of Cards   April 3, 2000

I enjoy Kay Hooper's writing style, particularly in the Wizard of Seattle. When I was searching thru 2nd hand book stores for her older books I found and finished reading this mystery. I liked it SO much I'm now searching for "Crime of Passion," also a Lane Montana Mystery. I thought that Ms. Hooper made her characterizations believable and included the right elements in a style that made me want to continue reading to find out why Montana felt the way she did and why THIS victim was chosen .... The development of the mystery was done well and while the "tying together" of the various elements may have been too simplistic, the story line seemed to demand it. I hope to be able to find "Crime of Passion" to further enjoy the character of Lane Montana and her police detective lover, Trey. I also hope Ms. Hooper writes MORE stories with this character!

4 out of 5 stars Characters show in-depth emotions and realistic views   June 30, 1999

Characters show true realistic emotions of a relationship. Also shows what troubles an investigator must go through personally in doing their jobs and dealing with police personnel who only see their jobs in black and white. This book is truly and exception to the rule. Hope the writer is kind enough to come out with another such classic.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent--wish there were more in the series.   February 11, 1999

I thoroughly enjoyed House of Cards. I found out after I had read it that there was a previous book in the series, Crime of Passion, and read it also. It was a twisty plot without the gruesomeness that accompanies so many mysteries. I wish there more titles in this series. As far as I know, however, there is not.

4 out of 5 stars VERY ENTERTAINING MURDER MYSTERY   January 21, 1998

I ENJOYED THI MYSTERY. IT REMINDED ME SOMEWHAT OF THOSE WRITTEN BY JILL CHURCHILL AND DIANE MOTT DAVIDSON. IT WASN'T GRUESOME. BUT DID'NT SOLVE EASILY. A GOOD READ FOR A LIGHT MYSTERY.
