Product Description

A poignant tale of hope and healing -- a classic love story from a true master of unforgettable, emotionally rich romantic fiction, New York Times bestselling author.

Caitlin O'Shannessy's late father left her with many things: a Colorado ranch, enduring memories of pain and sadness, an unshakable mistrust of men ... and an adversary.

Ace Keegan has returned to No Name, too late to enact a rightful vengeance on his most hated enemy. The man who put a hole in Ace's life is dead, leaving a daughter behind to run the family enterprise. Though proud and strong as well as beautiful, Caitlin is caught off guard when Ace's calculated anger inadvertently destroys her good name. But Ace Keegan is a man of honor, determined to make amends by marrying the enchanting lady he wronged -- and to nurture with patience and love the light she guards in her damaged heart until it blazes with the power of a thousand suns.

5 out of 5 stars Touching Love Story w/Exciting Western Plot Twists   September 26, 2008
I loved this book. I loved that the story had a mixture of several characters in impossible situations, who have all been victims of someone who is long gone, and now they have to pick up the pieces and learn to deal with each other. The hero in this book a gunslinger who is misunderstood and has carried the weight of a lot of pain and responsibility. The heroine is a beautiful person whose spirit has been smashed again and again. Both hero and heroine are wary of each other initially, but as a reader, you love them both! Add into the mix some of the western elements - fights, lynching, crooks, revenge, etc - and you have a really well-written romantic western that focuses on the characters, but keeps the plot interesting with twists and turns. One of the best books I've read in awhile!

4 out of 5 stars Anderson Consistently Scores An A With Me   June 10, 2008

I've never been a big fan of historical romances. It takes a special author and a special story to draw me in, but Catherine Anderson is a skilled lassoer. :D I first read about Ace and Caitlyn in another excellent story by Anderson, which was entitled 'Summer Breeze'. And their love story didn't disappoint. I found myself speed reading with fervor to get to the moment of justice in seeing the slimy #@%$#@^*'s who ruined so many lives get their comeuppance. The ending brought me to tears as Caitlyn found herself nearly losing the man who she spent so much of the story pushing away. And I have to say there was a sentence or two in there that had me LOL as the Keegan brothers good naturedly bickered on who packed the bigger 'pistol'. This imo is one of Anderson's best books to date. In fact, I only knocked off a point because it was a bit slow to start and kind of dragged in a few spots after the introductory chapter, but hang tight. It picks up pace quickly enough!

4 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Wonderful   May 16, 2007
When I read one of the reviews when I was thinking of buying this book, I was hesitant. The review had said that Ace had been very patient, even though Caitlin wasn't being cooperative.

I decided to buy the book any way, because I've read almost all of Catherine Anderson's books, and I had read Summer Breeze before I read this one, so I was curious about Ace's and Caitlin story.

When I started the book, it seemed interesting enough. It never did get boring. But the problem some people might have is that there's never any big romance until about 2/3 into the book.

I'm kind of being pulled back and forth on whether or not I can believe Caitlin's hesitancy. She's more scared of Ace than any other heroine I've ever encountered. And sure, she had her good reasons, but I've read other books where the female's situation was a lot worse, and yet they were much more willing.

Any way, this story warmed my heart every time Ace did something sweet. He really is a compassionate character.

And there's a BIG surprise at the end! So surprising, I almost stopped breathing. Even though I knew the outcome (I had read the sequel first by accident), it still scared the bejesus out of me.

Any way, just because this might sound like dull book, I really recommend it. It's got a little more suspense than we are used to from Ms. Anderson, and it really is an excellent read.
