Love, Love, Love this book! February 17, 2008 Every child should have this book. All three of my children love this book. They take turns picking the story we read and then we discuss it ( how it differs from the "movie" version, etc). Absolutely wonderful. Our favorite book for our children.
pretty good January 23, 2007 It's got a great collection of fairy tales. They might be different from the watered down versions from child hood but most aren't that graphic. I liked it.
A perfect collection of Fairy Tales November 10, 2006 This book is absolutely wonderful. My childen love it and it is exactly what is being taught in the schools.
Scary stories and pictures September 1, 2006 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I felt the pictures were frightening along with the books references to blood, jealousy, envy, killing, dying, and in the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, there is reference to killing and removing the lungs and liver for the Queen. I think this is really scary stuff for children and totally inappropriate. Can't there be beautiful fairy tales without the fear, horror and violence, and always a prince coming to the rescue of the helpless princess.
good stories but pictures can be a little scary May 2, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great collection of stories, but when I was a little girl I was very scared of some of the drawings of the villians. So, the illustrations are excellent but a very young child might find them a little...intense. Nevertheless, I still liked the book and read it often.
