I bought this to use in my 6th grade reading classroom. It is excellent to use to teach reading skills such as main idea, author's purpose, or summarizing. I put it in a center and students have 10 minutes to use the book for an assignment. Since it is at a lower reading level, students have success in building skills to use in higher level texts.
This book is a good addition to the grade 1-6 classroom library.
Not what I expected January 11, 2007 I bought this book for my 8 year old daughter to read for a book report. My Kindergarten son picked it up and read it. It is a Kindergarten through middle of first grade reading level and not on par with the 4-8 year old range for which it is recommended.

I am so impressed with this series. I hope my kids begin a lifelong love of nonfiction with stories like Amelia Earhart. Crisply written, with just the right amount of detail and TERRIFIC photos which capture the imagination. It's hard to fight the Junie B. Jones craze, and those books are cute, too, but I want my 1st grader to admire Amelia, too! She thinks Amelia "rocks". Highly recommend for 4-7 years.
