Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Now in 4-color format with more illustrations than ever before, the Seventh Edition of Mechanics of Materials continues its tradition as one of the leading texts on the market. With its hallmark clarity and accuracy, this text develops student understanding along with analytical and problem-solving skills. The main topics include analysis and design of structural members subjected to tension, compression, torsion, bending, and more. The book includes more material than can be taught in a single course giving instructors the opportunity to select the topics they wish to cover while leaving any remaining material as a valuable student reference.

5 out of 5 stars a great book!   November 16, 2008
This is a great book with ton of examples and very clear text. I recommend it to everyone who is learning or teaching this material.

4 out of 5 stars ME textbook   September 30, 2008
Text required for Mechanical Eng. class. Good intro text and will provide quality reference in the future.

5 out of 5 stars excellent,   September 15, 2008
i ordered this when it was out of stock, i was expected to receive it in 1 month, but instead received it 2 weeks earlier. good product, good service, i recommend it

4 out of 5 stars "The answer in the back of the book is WRONG!"   September 14, 2008
The chapters are generally well written with in-depth, step by step examples that cover the material in the section before it. The problems themselves are particularly tricky as they require constant revision of mistakes and application of creative thinking to solve correctly.

Unfortunately, a strikingly large percentage of answers provided in the back of the book are wrong. Many times one can pinpoint the mistake made in the answers, and other times the answers are beyond absurd. An unfortunate mar on an otherwise solid book.

5 out of 5 stars I didn't even need to go to class!   August 16, 2008
This textbook made up for my (nice, but) boring professor. He'd rush through several important lessons, so I'd just read them and teach myself from this book. Every chapter had excellent examples that were thoroughly explained, and I didn't find any errors. Answers are in the back, so if you're motivated, you can even learn Mechanics of Materials without any guidance from a professor.
