Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully illustrated   May 20, 2007
The illustrations are wonderful. The text is simple and straight forward but doesn't "talk down." This is a painless history lesson.

1 out of 5 stars too childish for children!   August 2, 2005

I was expecting Marian Russell's journal and instead I got a sanitized children's story. The illustrations are ok but I was very disappointed in the text. I had read some quotes from Marian Russell's diary in another book and had been moved by her descriptions of the Southwest.
