Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
In Quality Whitetails, Drs. Karl V. Miller and R. Larry Marchinton have assembled the expertise of some of the most knowledgeable white-tailed deer biologists across North America. These authorities provide in-depth explanations of deer population biology and genetics and discuss various effective management methods, including harvest strategies, habitat maintenance, regional issues, and feeding and mineral supplementation for antler production. Designed to help both sportsmen and biologists preserve their natural resources, this guide offers direction for maintaining robust deer populations that are in balance with their environment.

2 out of 5 stars Quality whitetails: the how and why of quality deer managment   November 11, 2008
i was highly dissapointed with this book, if your are looking for more technical material and studies, this is the book for you.
i found little practical info for the novice

4 out of 5 stars too many technical facts   May 2, 2008
i thought the book was very informative for beginners. If you're not a beginner and you've either farmed a little bit or have managed deer and built food plots in the past, dont buy this book because you won't finish reading it. I was looking for something more when I bought this book but they teach you the same ole thing, and it's mainly for large landowners. but overall for beginners, it's a great book.

5 out of 5 stars Great book   December 27, 2007
I have recently read this book and found it to be very helpful and informative. I was looking for help on developing some hunting land and the book gave some very sensable advice. I would sugest to anyone starting to develope there own land for deer hunting.

5 out of 5 stars Very Informative Book   March 14, 2006
This book is a very informative book. It is very well written and researched. I have been able to institute many of these ideas into my deer hunting activities.

4 out of 5 stars Almost All You Need to Practice QDMA   July 2, 2003
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

The authors are nationally recognized experts and it shows. Page after page of the science of white-tailed deer makes for informative and most of the time interesting reading.
As a QDM practitioner I found the book somewhat low on "how to" but very very high on background and research. It is an excellent reference text but I like Dougherty & Dougherty's "Grow'Em Right" for "how to" information on food plots and habitat creation.
This book is a classic and should be on every serious whitetail enthusiast's book shelf. I would like to see it updated with more "how to" information for non-experts like myself.
