Product Description
When Elizabeth Bennett marries the brooding, passionate Mr. Darcy, she is thrown into the exciting world of London society. She makes a powerful friend in the Marchioness of Englebury but the jealousy among her ladyship's circle threatens to destroy Elizabeth's happiness. Elizabeth is drawn into a powerful clique for whom intrigue is the stuff of life and rivalry the motive, and her success, it seems, can only come at the expense of good relations with her husband. This novel also continues the stories of other favorite Pride and Prejudice characters including Georgiana Darcy and Kitty Bennett, each of whom have amusing adventures of their own. Told in the language of the era and bringing Regency society vividly to life, Mr. Darcy Presents His Briderecalls Austen's theme of the necessity of individual growthinthe maintainance of lasting bonds.

Overall, a good read October 23, 2008 The author kept the characterizations close to what Ms. Austen originally developed for them. The writing style was similar, the situations were pretty much what you would expect in early-19th-century Britain, overall it was an enjoyable read.
Without spoiling anything I was a little disappointed in the final disposition of one of the Bennett sisters. The ending of P&P alluded to a much different situation.
But, still, I would recommend any P&P fan to peruse this volume.
A worthy sequel October 20, 2008 There is a whole cottage industry of sequels to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Some are good and some are not so good. This book falls in the "good" category. The flavor and voice used by Halstead is much like the original and is quite fun to read. I have one slight quibble. Austen's Mrs. Bennett seemed to me to be a bumbling, uncouth, but well-meaning woman. Halstead's Mrs. Bennett seems a little cruel and uncaring. I don't think this is what the author meant, but it is what came across.
The other characters ring quite true. Even the little spats Elizabeth and Darcy have seem to be a natural result of their personalities as described by Austen. After all, marriage doesn't mean that lives will immediately run smoothly.
All in all, this is a highly recommended book.
JANE AUSTEN WANTABE! October 9, 2008 I thought this was a silly book written in the style of Jane Austen. I could not get thru it!
worth reading August 31, 2008 This book was not quite as good as darcy takes a wife, but it is still worth the read to finish this authors storyline.
P&P Lite - Could be much worse!! July 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A quick, light read. One of the better sequels only in that it didn't make me cringe in the characterizations or the language. For a pretty good way through the book I was hopeful that there would be a nice weaving together of the plot, to end with a delightful tapestry in the Austen way. Alas, it was not to be - ultimately, there's really not much story here. There are lots of new characters, at times difficult to keep straight. But it was nice to be with "the crew" again, and in desperate times (and with the absolute flood of terrible Austen sequels/prequels/Austen-as-detective/retelling from another character's point of view/supernatural/etc, etc, etc out there, these ARE desperate times), it fares tolerably well compared to some of the other muck.
