Product Description Become a Student of the Master To Christians, Jesus is many things: the Son of God, the pivotal figure in whom we put our trust and who speaks on our behalf, a companion in the life of faith. But Jesus is also an incredible example of how to lead a faithful life. Jesus, as a human, walked on earth and confronted the same struggles that we face. Our primary mission as his followers is to learn from him -- to become his apprentices. In this book we seek to further our apprenticeship by studying everything from Jesus's interactions with those around him to the revolutionary wisdom recorded in the Gospels. Learning from Jesus is conveniently organized for individual or group study, and each section of this guide leads you further down the path to true discipleship.

Helpful Bible study materials July 13, 2007 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I purchased this guide to use with a small group of women, of varying backgrounds and spiritual maturity. So far, we are enjoying the discussions generated by the materials.
I appreciate the design of the materials; each lesson covers one topic and the lessons are designed to teach a spiritual discipline, for example: Bible study or meditation.
The materials use the New Revised Standard Bible, which to me lends a more devotional feel to the Bible study portion of the lessons. This seems to fit, as the lessons also seem designed more to challenge the way you think about the topics, rather than lead you through an in-depth study of the topics.
The materials are great at introducing readers to a broader group of both contemporary and classic Christian writers. The materials are well written, however the vocabulary has proven challenging to two of our ladies who are not native English speakers.
Also, I found it helpful to define Renovare terminology like "spiritual formation" or "with-God life" into words more commonly used in the broader Christian community.
