| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description With its focus on the fundamental values and guiding principles of early childhood education, this has become one of most well received books in the field. It provides a comprehensive introduction to the full range of early childhood education and care programs, using a straightforward, conversational writing style that appeals to a wide-range of readers. A clear, conceptual framework and integration of principles and practice promotes an understanding of the many parts of the field and how they interconnect. Detailed chapter topics cover four key content areas: foundations or early childhood education and care, understanding children, planning for care and education, and special relationships. For individuals considering becoming early childhood professionals.

| Customer Reviews:
Who Am I in the Lives of Children September 8, 2008 I need this book for an Early Childhood Education Course. I have found the book to be thorough and to the point. With many textbooks, it can be difficult to decipher how the contents fit with the subject you're studying but this book does not leave me with that feeling.
Excellently Written And Informed Despite Lack of Citations February 5, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Lagging a bit behind Jo Ann Brewer's and George S. Morrison's texts, Feeney & Company's book thoroughly presents the field in its essentials and reference points, but fails to internally cite the groundmaking scholarly works that put forth the concepts. With ever increasing accountability in the field, teachers need much training in accumulating the internal integrity and knowledge through a historical derived logic. Knowning where commonplace early childhood concepts originate begins this training.
A good third text.
