5 out of 5 stars A great book to take with   March 8, 2008

We just returned from 10 days in Trinidad and Tobago, where we birded in a number of the best areas. I was hoping the book would be released before we left, but I received a notice that it shipped 2 days before I left, and did not get the book until we returned. After looking at the book, I really wish I could have had it with me. It is very well done with excellent plates, much better than Ffrench or the Birds of Venezuela. Plus, it is compact, making it practical to carry in the field.

There is a concise description of field marks, voice, status and range for each species, plus some very good introductory material on climate, geography, habitats, and top birding areas.

If I could have a guide this good for the next country I visit, I would be extremely happy.
