Gold Star September 8, 2008 My nearly six year old homeschooled son loves math and loves gold star stickers..this comes with a whole page of them...so this book is a major hit. The only thing we do not like is that the slick pages make any erasing difficult. This book does move quickly from easy to challenging without extra pages to reinforce learning or for practicing difficult concepts. We will do our own extra practice and use math blocks as well.
To the point July 21, 2008 This book is wonderful for my soon to be 1st grader. It has all the graphics which helps get the concept across. My daughter and I loved the alligator mouth for greater then sign!! Clever!!
scattered topics April 12, 2008 I enjoy the information in the book. However the topics are not in order. For example, the topic of money may be on page 2,60, and 115. That's the only thing I did not like about this book.
The title says it all! February 26, 2008 This curriculum has been our math staple for the past 3 years now. The only thing missing is some of the basic instruction for new or difficult concepts. But if you know basic math, then you can cover what's lacking with no problem. Hopefully this has laid the foundation for when we move on to Saxon...
Great book with easy-to-follow structure December 2, 2007 We recently bought this book, and my daughter loves going through it. The lessons are exactly the right length for her to get the point without getting bored. They also build nicely on each other, allowing a complex concept to be taught gradually over the course of a few lessons. The graphics are helpful, and the opportunity to draw your own pictures is also nice for young children. And, including a gold star for every lesson completed is a good motivator.
