Product Description
Effective tactics for scouting, setting up, shooting, and calling pressured turkeys Strategies for troubleshooting tough gobblers
The glory days of turkey hunting are now. Turkey populations across the country are at all-time highs, and hunters have more opportunities than ever before. But the golden age of turkey hunting, characterized by a growing number of enthusiastic hunters and a shrinking land base, has introduced a unique challenge: pressure. And bagging a pressured gobbler can be tricky. Brian Lovett's Hunting Pressured Turkeys examines the modern turkey hunting scene and offers a concise, in-depth explanation of how to scout for, set up on, and kill wary longbeards. Lovett explains how turkeys react to human pressure and various terrain features and covers the essential skills of calling. He provides complete strategies for hunting different times of day, aggressive versus subtle approaches, and troubleshooting tough birds. Peppered with vivid color photos and entertaining anecdotes from the author's days afield, Hunting Pressured Turkeys is a delight to read and a helpful guide for figuring out the pressured-turkey puzzle on your own.

Outstanding....for beginners and well experienced alike July 2, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this book because I was familiar with the authors writing in magazines. In spite of that I still expected a run of the mill book. Was I surprised!! If I could only recommend one book on turkeys this would be it. I've read a lot and most are just ok. I'm 66 years old and started turkey hunting 25 years ago. I spend in excess of 100 days a year hunting and scouting for birds, all on public land in the Northwest - 6 states. This book reaffirms a lot of what I know,or thought I knew, and the tactics I use and, I still learned a lot! I wish this book would have been available years ago, it would have speeded up my learning curve by leaps and bounds. Read this well, follow Lovett's advice and you will be a much more sucessful hunter. I know I will be. Good luck.
This book delivers! June 20, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Unlike many books, this one delivers on its title. "Pressured turkeys" are what we hunt in Pennsylvania, and it's about time someone addressed the issue of how to hunt turkeys that have seen it all before. By the end of the first week of our spring season, the odds are that the turkey you're hunting is under pressure.
If you want to judge this book by its cover, go ahead. The picture on the front is only one of dozens upon dozens of beautiful colored photographs throughout. And the text is just as satisfying.
You've learned from your mistakes. Learn from Lovett's, too. He admits he has made many, and he clearly teaches the lessons of his mistakes. Get your hands on this book -- you'll be a better turkey hunter if you do.
