Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
With the incredibly rapid growth that full sunshine brings, summer can be a gardener's busiest time: The lawn must be mowed and watered regularly, blooming plants must be dead-headed to extend their blossoming period, vegetables need to be harvested before they flower and go to seed. Yet it's also the time when all the work of the previous year comes to glorious fruition. Gardeners being what they are, most tend to focus on the glorious part and don't mind the hard work. This lovely spiral-bound book is for that kind of gardener. It celebrates the joys of the summer garden as it gives simple instructions for the three P's: planting (yes, there is plenty to plant in the summer-- perennials, autumn-blooming bulbs, and rapidly growing vegetables such as lettuces and radishes), pruning, and propagating. There are tips on watering and weeding the lawn, pest control, alternate ground covers, and routine care for the garden. The fun part is in the foldout project sections that give instructions for building a pebble pond and a sink garden, trimming topiary and training fruit trees, and creating a wildly colorful summer flowerbed. Like the other Seasonal Garden Workbooks, this one is practical, beautiful, and entertaining.
