Amazon.com While Enochian Magic for Beginners focuses on bringing the intimidating subject of Enochian magic within the reach of the novice, the book grants its subject much more than superficial treatment. Western ceremonial magician and author Donald Tyson gives a comprehensive address on the history of and a solid foundation for actually working with this fascinating system of magic. What sets Tyson's treatment apart is his examination of the original system in its entirety, as it was given to John Dee and Edward Kelley in the late 1500s by the same angels who revealed the wisdom to Enoch in Old Testament times. This is not the same form of Enochian magic practiced by Golden Dawn members, which Tyson maintains is only a fragment of the original. The author's lucid connection of the mechanics of Enochian magic with its original philosophical and spiritual significance in Enochian Magic for Beginners answers the questions of the uninitiated while still being of importance to the adept.
Product Description Some magicians say it is the most powerful magical system ever. The Golden Dawn used it. Aleister Crowley used it. A growing number of magicians use it. And now, you can use it too thanks to Donald Tyson and his book, Enochian Magic for Beginners. Revealed to John Dee and Edward Kelley over 400 years ago, much of this system has been ignored or misunderstood, even by famous magicians. Some of the source material has been fragmented, obscure, or unavailable. Thankfully, Mr. Tyson has worked long and hard to rediscover what was missing and piece together what had been changed. Make no mistakethis is not a superficial treatment of Enochian magic. Yes, it is written for beginners, but it is also a vital and important resource for those who are currently practicing the Enochian system. Most people today follow the Golden Dawn's method of Enochian magic. But did you know that they left out a major portion of the system? It's true! They did not include the Heptarchia Mystica, a manuscript discovered amongst John Dee's belongings. In Enochian Magic for Beginners, you will learn the secrets of the Heptarchia Mystica, including such things as the Angelic seven rulers, the preparations for practice of the system, and how to perform the ritual of the system. But the Golden Dawn Enochian system is also quite powerful, and you will learn all of the inner secrets of this system so you can practice it on your own. Also included are two new designs for Enochian typefaces, Donald Tyson's reconstruction of the Enochian Book of Spirits, and much more. If you have found that your magic has not been as successful as you would like, this is the book you need to start a new page in your magical career. If you want to learn about the Enochian system, this book is the best introduction to it to date. And if you are already practicing Enochian magic, you will find this book to be a valuable resource.

Enochian Magic For Beginners May 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good book, it gives you a background of when Enochian Magic was reintroduced and the concepts needed to understand it.
Good beginning April 9, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Enochian magic is a difficult area to access, and Tyson does well to bring things into perspective for a beginner in the art. However, there are serious issues with his personal point of view coming into play, and creating areas of uncertainty - for example in his re-ordering of the great table, and most especially his interpolation of Christian apocalyptic views into his synthesis of Enochian magic. However, that being said, this book will make it accessible for all to dip into, and begin to develop an interest in a complex system of magic.
Excellent Value For The Experienced November 10, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This Book is EXCELLENT VALUE and a grimoire of the lost angel magic. However it contains very complex ritual magic to summon the angels and therefore not fitted for the 'TOTALLY NEW BEGINNER'in magic. But it is a great book 'TO BEGIN' with angel magic for the experienced magician...
Beginners? June 3, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Despite what the title says... "Enochian Magic for BEGINNERS" I felt that this was too dense for beginners. I was quite discouraged after reading almost half of the book because it was too dense! I also didn't like the author's connection with the apocolypse, true or not. If you are really interested in this book then prepare yourself for some hard work. Me? I don't think I'll dabble in Enochian anymore. Good luck!
A useful textbook to accompany the original material September 20, 2003 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Donald Tyson is a respected author who has devoted a fair amount of his life to the mastery of every known branch of ritual magic. While his conclusions are largely in the form of personal insight, he provides a large amount of research to back up his theories and conclusions. What I, personally, find useful, is his commentary on the golden dawn version of enochian magic, compared to what we now know is the full cycle of text (much of which was unknown to the founders of the GD when they created their "most perfect system of magic"). He provides bibliographic references, allowing the reader to peruse the same texts for themselves, and is always careful to note when a remark is based on some bit of cannonical text, or his own experience and insight. This book does not stand alone, however. I would suggest, at the very least, also having Causabon's "A True and Faithful Relation" and Laycock's "Enochian Dictionary" as supplimental material to use with this book. If, however, you truly wish to understand the depth and potential of Enochian magic, this book is a highly useful platform to begin from.
