Product Description In nature, we often hear the sound of a bird or an animal before we can see it. Our new Hear and There Books have the same effect. After reading a short riddle, children are asked "What am I?" By pushing a color-coded button on the sound strip, they can hear the call of the bird or the animal. When they pull the tab on the right page, the animal is revealed. To find out more about the featured bird or animal, readers can lift the flap on the left-hand page for more detailed information on its habitat, its young, and its behavior. Written by a professional naturalist, these books are beautifully illustrated, fun to listen to, and filled with interesting facts! Have you ever wondered what a certain sound was outside your window at night? As children play the calls of these nocturnal creatures, they will be fascinated to read and learn about the coyote, spring peepers, great horned owl, American toad, whippoorwill, field cricket, bullfrog, and katydid.

"Bird Calls" (Play the Sounds, Pull the tabsl) September 29, 2008 Our Great-grandchildren love the "Bird Call Book" by Frank Gallo. I hope it will be available when new babies come along.
Great Coffee Table Book August 13, 2008 I first saw this book at my mother's house, and knew that my grandson would love it. For anyone who loves birds and would like to identify the "calls" they hear, this is a great book. The only drawback is that, for the majority of the birds in the book, only one of each bird's many calls is recorded. Nonetheless, I love the book.
Ready for our second copy... November 7, 2007 Our 15-month old daughter can't get enough of this book. I thought it would be way over her head (and the tabs are a bit difficult for her) but was surprised to see her just fall in love it. She has ripped some of the tabs but still points at each bird, makes sounds, and has now learned how to hit the buttons to play the sounds herself. This is always the first book she brings to us to go through. We plan to buy our second copy soon!
Gorgeous Book! January 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful book! My 3 year old loves it (and so do I!)! The sounds are crisp and clear, the illustrations are GORGEOUS, and it's very well written! I highly recommend this book.
Great Book but don't expect to keep it nice January 16, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great book for teaching birds and bird calls for eight birds. Our 16-month-old LOVES this book. I did have to work with her to show her how to pull the tabs without tearing the book apart. She can now do it but the tabs are all bent and worn. The buttons are somewhat hard to press too but with practice she can work them. She brings me this book every day to go through with her.
