Product Description
Thomas Edison. Albert Einstein. Half of NASA. These are all extremely intelligent, successful adults who made great contributions to society and who are also suspected of having the developmental disorder called Asperger Syndrome. This relatively new diagnosis is being increasingly applied to both children and adults-in fact, it is now seen as running in familes. There are a lot of books on how to successfully raise children with AS, but until now, adults were left to figure it out on their own. Dr. Juanita Lovett specializes in treating adults with AS and working with their families. In this book she shows those adults and their loved ones how to maximize the benefits of AS (including intense concentration, above-average intelligence, and high creativity) while minimizing the drawbacks (including lack of social skill, inability to connect emotionally with others, and propensity toward rage). This important new book will help thousands of adults with AS learn to live happier, more fulfilling lives.

Best book on Aspergers I've read! April 23, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the best and most useful book on Aspergers I have read. I was surprised to realize that I knew more than one Aspergers person! A truely useful book!

Being newly diagnosed with Asperger's, this book was a great guide to helping me understand the disorder. It did not, however, have much in the way of "solutions" as the title suggests. The focus was more on personality traits and challenges an Aspie might have, and very little time was spent discussing what to do about it.
It is a great starting point for newly-diagnosed Aspies and their family members.
Solutions for Adults with Asperger Syndrome February 16, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great book. We need more books about adults with Autism and Asperger Syndrome. It would be nice to find a book about people who are older than 50 years old to see how they cope in their later years and to see how sucessful their livies have been, especially after their parents have passed away and they no longer have people looking out for their welfare. Thanks again for the great book.
Focus on relationships February 8, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book is probably best for those who are new to Asperger's, including neurotypicals. Those with more experience may do better to seek a textbook on the subject. That being said, this is an excellent resource for understanding how relationships between NTs and those with AS both function and malfunction, and ways to cope with those difficulties. This book is not a tool for diagnosis or treatment because it is not a medical text. It is, however, a useful resource for healthier relationships between families, couples, and coworkers.
Rare help for adult aspserger's sufferers January 7, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is an excellent review of Asperger's and other autistic spectrum diseases. There being so little available for adults, it is particularly useful for relatives and friends who need to understand their Asperger's friends/relatives. Not all Asperger's sufferers will be able to use the author's advice. Only the highest functioning, most self-aware individuals will be able to adopt the coping mechanisms the author suggests. The writing is quite repetitive, but perhaps this was intentional. Good education for those who know nothing about the spectrum of autistic diseases.
