From the supplier: The Supreme Court ruled in 'Seminole Tribe of Florida vs. Florida' that Congress is not authorized to allow Indian tribes to sue states in federal court. The 11th constitutional amendment granting state immunity from suit cannot be repealed by Congress under the Commerce Clause. This decision overruled the 1989 ruling in 'Pennsylvania vs. Union Gas' granting the right to sue states in order to enforce environmental laws.
