Great instructions & Photos on all types of calls, Blown, Friction, Tube, etc, including tuning, etc, written in an easy to understand way that also explaines the "Why-For" of things. Also -Recources for Equipment, Supplys, types of supplys & tools, and collecting Wood etc, on You're own too - and how to get the best use of It. Tips, Tips, Tips..! - Great reading too.! Thank You. Good How-To Book May 16, 2008
I owned one copy of "Turning Custom Duck and Game Calls" and ordered two more from Amazon. I gave one of the copies to a student and put the other in my classroom library. Good step by step photos with explanatory print to fill in the gaps. Clear enough that a high schooler can follow it and that is saying something!
I do woodturning when I am not out in the woods taking pictures. Even photographers enjoy other interests.

This is an excellent book on the subject, but be very careful if you go to the Greg Keats web site to purchase an item. On 3/18/08, I ordered the guts for a goose call and waited a week to send an email to find out that it will ship until 3/31/08 (they were closed for Easter). It is now 4/11/08 and I still do not have the part! I sent an email asking for the tracking number and still no results. I also sent emails asking advice on the construction of the call using their parts and got sarcastic results until I told him the reason I was asking was because the info I wanted was not covered in his coauthored book.

After reading this book, I find it to be one of the most if not the most informative instructional tools for any turner who is interested in making high end and high quality duck calls. It breaks down the process of making calls from, choosing materials, styles and basic understanding of the sounding techniques needed to make the best call. It is easy to read and has information not usually made available to the turner who is looking to start out making calls, or to the experienced call maker, looking to improve his or hers technique. The photos are excellent, the colors are vibrant, the handling of the step by step proccess is superb, I would have to say there is not another book on the market of such detailed quality. Since purchasing this book I have turned many calls that have gained me nothing but praise from friends and family, and made enough profit to keep purchasing high quality materials to continue making calls....this book is a bargain in its own right. Buy it with confidence. Share it with pride.

This is an outstanding book for beginners and old pros. Everyone can learn something about duck calls from this book!! Kudos to the authors for giving out years of experience.
