Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Based on the proven technology of Multisystemic Therapy (MST), this unique book provides an exemplary approach to empowering communities to reduce youth violence and substance abuse and promote school success. Effective strategies for working with at-risk youth are embedded in a comprehensive framework that enlists the talents and resources of clinicians, human service professionals, neighborhood residents, community organizations, and outside stakeholders. Using an extended case example to illustrate all aspects of implementing MST on a neighborhood-wide scale, the volume covers empirical and clinical foundations, program planning, and strategies for building collaboration with key community players. The result is a hopeful and practical blueprint for making a neighborhood safer and healthier for all residents and creating new opportunities for young people and their families.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars It just makes sense   August 16, 2005
The MST neighborhood partnership book will make everyone who reads it wonder why more programs aren't designed with the practical and common-sense approach it outlines. Each chapter captures one aspect of the neighborhood approach, starting with the various challenges, a how-to section, a case example, and key points to remember. It is a great book and does justice to the tremendous work that Dr. Swenson did (as well as everyone in the Union Heights neighborhood).
