Product Description Harley (April 14, 1993 -- December 15, 2004) was my beloved pet Labrador and best friend. Using 88 pictures and some memorable anecdotal situations, I hope to capture and convey "some of Harley's essence." Dog lovers will no doubt relate to and empathize with parts of Harley's story. Harley was so much more than any words or any pictures could ever convey. Nevertheless, it is my hope that some of the enjoyment, love, and kindness that Harley gave to those who knew him will somehow be experienced by those who read this book. The target audience consists of everyone from young children (who may enjoy the pictures) to adult dog lovers. The only caution goes to parents who may be concerned about exposing their children to the experience of "putting a dog to sleep" (Chapter 20). Pages 40 and 41 contain pictures of a sketch and corresponding portrait by the (wild-life)/pet artist John Shaw. (For framing, prints may be purchased at Amazon: Sketch ASIN B000EO5MCI and Portrait ASIN B000EO9QH0.)

A dog lover's must May 3, 2006 I truly enjoyed this account of the relationship between a man and his Golden Labrador, Harley. It is a short, 58 page, series of anectdotes that serve to express a special relationship between man and dog. This would be an ideal read for young dog lovers or by a parent to a child. It contains many pictures and is written in common language. The last chapter describes Harley's final day and is a sad yet touching end to a delightful read.
Harley is a wonderful heart-warming story of a Man's best friend March 24, 2006 This story keeps your attention from beginning to end. It has realistic and colorful illustrations of Harley, and color photographs of Harley with his family, friends, animals, including his girlfriend, Princess, which are important additions in telling his story. Harley loved and trusted his master and was happy just to be with his family, Stephen and Patty. It seems as each obsticle occurred, Stephen and Patty would find a way to make Harley happy. Harley had a full rich life tagging along with them to the farm, going fishing, swimming, and even going to the Dump. This book would be a good reference book for someone who wants to know how to care for a pet. Stephen explains how he trained Harley without ever being mean to him. When you read his words, you can feel the love he has for his best friend, "Harley."
