Product Description
You look straight ahead. You try to breathe normally. You can smell the scent of the huge cat that is staring back. You are a cameraman. He is the King of Beasts. Your only thought is "I hope he has already eaten today." Let National Geographic Explorers-in-Residence Dereck and Beverly Joubert bring you closer to the power and majesty of the regal African lion. With fewer than 25,000 wild lions now left on Earth, the award-winning filmmakers and naturalists make a passionate plea to readers to take an active role in securing a future for these magnificent creatures.

1 out of 5 stars Face to Face with Lions   March 19, 2008

This is a CHILDREN's book, however it was not identified by you as such. I have bought books and videos by the same authors from you in the past and loved them. How am I supposed to know that this book is written for children if you do not tell me??? I just canceled all promotional material from you. If I can't rely on the info you send me I don't want it.

4 out of 5 stars great for the classroom   February 29, 2008

My second graders love this Face to Face series (particularly the newest Frog one). It is written at a level appropriate for them (something the previous reader didn't seem to notice -- the target audience is young elementary children, not adults). The photographs are gorgeous and really capture the kids' attention. Since our class subscribes to NG Young Explorers magazine, they were familiar with the style of writing and layout.
Good resources for where to get more info at end of book.

1 out of 5 stars Hugely Disappointing   February 19, 2008

This was a very disappointing "book". Barely more than a short magazine article, the dialog seemed appropriate for an elementary school child. Very superficial and definately not worth the time or money.
