Product Description
Trees & Forests of America is an unprecedented collection of 200 stunning photographs by award-winning author Tim Palmer. Along with breath-taking images, his expressive text celebrates the exquisite beauty of nature and explains why trees and forests are important to all life. In this remarkable volume of unaltered photos it is easy to get lost in sunbeams shining through green canopies or in the sky-reaching rise of the largest living organisms on earth. Here the author of Abrams’ highly acclaimed Rivers of America continues to document and capture the beauty of America from one coast to the other as he treks, skis, and paddles to some of our most remote woodlands as well as to those at the edges of towns and cities. This lavish book is sure to inspire readers to more fully appreciate trees and forests everywhere.

| Customer Reviews:
Enhanced with a profusion of full color photographic images November 10, 2008 The forests of America are as geographically diverse as the flora and fauna they shelter. In "Trees & Forests Of America" author and photographer Tim Palmer showcases that diversity from the towering redwoods on the edge of the Pacific Ocean to the magnificent oaks seen inland along Atlantic coast. All the forest regions are magnificently represented including the Northern, Central Hardwoods and Appalachians, South, Drylands/Grasslands, Rocky Mountains, Drylands/Desert/Steppe; Sierra Nevada and Southern California; and the Northwest areas. An informed and informative text is enhanced with a profusion of full color photographic images providing illustration and example of the lives of the trees, the ecological workings of the forests, as well as the challenges confronting our woodlands and the people who are working to preserve and protect them for the sake of future generations. "Trees & Forests Of America" is a superbly produced and instructive work that should be a part of every academic and community library Environmental Studies reference collection and supplemental reading list. Also very highly recommended for those same collections is Tim Palmer's earlier work, "Rivers Of America" which is also published by Harry N. Abrams.
