This first movie from the Discovery Channel favorite opens with a plot of international intrigue over a downed satellite, but within four minutes Steve Irwin is belly flopping after a baby croc on the outback floor. Steve and his nerves-of-steel sidekick wife, Terri, are asked to relocate a cattle-chomping crocodile before it's shot by a local rancher. This same reptile happened to swallow the intelligence-gathering device that fell to earth, and so begins the goofball premise of this lark of a movie. The feds believe the Irwins are appropriating their classified info, and the Irwins think they're running from poachers. Quibblers may object to Irwin's frequent interruptions to introduce a bird-eating spider or paw through croc dung, but Crocodile Hunter fans wouldn't have it any other way. This 89-minute film is rated PG for action violence/peril and mild language. But unless you consider "crikey" an obscenity, it's a safe bet for family viewing. 5 out of 5 stars Great movie!   February 24, 2008
This is such a cute movie. When I brought it home, my little one plunked it into the DVD player where it remained, playing over and over and over again for DAYS! He just loves this movie! It's just really neat how they put a documentary into a movie format, complete with a plot. One of the best lines in the movie is "I think the binoculars have picked up the Discovery Channel." Which is what one of our CIA guys says when he sees the Irwins coming down the river with a croc in their boat. Great, great movie, full of action and adventure. You even get to see Steve just about get his arms pulled out of their sockets by a croc. One of the most fascinating segments is that Steve introduces you to a bird-eating spider, which is a cousin to the tarantula. We've all been told that tarantulas are harmless to humans, but this cousin is quite venomous. It's actually a very humourous segment too, and also quite interesting. We bought this dvd for a child who is petrified of animals. Who else but Steve to help him over that! Also, I've noticed that no one has mentioned anything about the language in this film. For the parents out there, there are about 4-5 swear words in the end, all issued by our CIA guys. There are a couple of d-words, and one h-word, and that's it. I'm surprised that there are any since the Irwins don't operate like that. Still can't figure that one out. Anyway, this is a good find, very entertaining, and something you should definitely not pass by. Highly, highly recommend!

5 out of 5 stars Probably the best movie with Steve Irwin   December 29, 2007
This movie has it all - There is a good story, combined with Steve sharing his knowledge of animals and it is all done in a funny and interesting way - a classic that children and adults alike will enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Steve Irwin's message is conservation   September 3, 2007
This movie is made with all ages in mind, and the message is not self-promotion--he said he never intended to be movie star, and remarked he did not like the mentality of Hollywood--but instead to promote conservation. This movie can be watched without worrying about bad language or indecency, and instead can be educational and entertaining at the same time. This is a movie by one of the world's most well-known personalities, yet a celebrity without the associated problems of alcoholism, drugs, marital unfaithfulness, inability to follow laws, or any other vice or self-promotion exhibited by most other celebrities*. He put the majority of his money back into conservation and his zoo (in order to promote interest in conservation), he worked hard to promote his message with the last 4 years of his life in pain from all the injuries from his personal hands-on approach, never shunning hard work or danger, cared nothing about fashion or trying to look good, shunned the luxury life with the exception of promotional tours (on wildlife expeditions, he refused using a caravan, opting instead to rough it with his team), was a loving father and husband, and often told his coworkers how proud he was of them and how much he loved them--an all around good bloke. Please support him and his message and the Wildlife Warriors by educating your children and yourselves with this great video.

*After 10 years of public life, the only thing detractors could come up with is Steve feeding a croc while holding his baby boy. Keep in mind, this is a man who studied them and handled them for 30+ years at the time of this incident. The incident was made to look worse due to a bad camera angle, and the croc was already tired out before Steve's approach with his baby. Crocodilians have limited energy reserves, and the best place to be if in proximity to one (besides the rear) is directly in front, as their striking power is lightning fast from side to side. Also the croc in question was a large one, the large ones having much less forward speed on land due to bulk than a smaller more agile one. Steve was in control, and many factors were in his favor, but these facts are seldom mentioned.
