Easy read March 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my daughter and she said she really enjoyed it. She sometimes struggle with reading, but the wording in this book was not difficult for her and she was able to read it on her own. She finished it in about 3 days because she couldn't put it down.
Willie Rules! November 3, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My daughter and I can't stop re-reading the books from this entire series. Willie is a kids, kid. A mixture of sass, insecurity, and sweetness. I was looking for a character who my daughter could identify with that also looks like her. It's important to me that she has heroes who African American too. Like the other reviewer my only wish would be for more books!
"Willimena Rules" says my twin daughters November 1, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It's has been very difficult trying to find books for my twin 8yr old daughters.
I wanted a series of books with the star character being an African American girl just having fun and doing kid stuff. A book that will make them know that reading is fun. This book does just that and more.
I only wish that there were more of them because I already bought them all.
If you're looking for a great chapter book for an African American girl, then author Valerie Wilson Wesley's series of "Willimena Rules" is it.
Also try, Gloria Rising and Gloria's Way by Ann Cameron.
