Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
"The buggy-eyed insects, crabs, and snails provide an appealing cast of characters who stand up to be counted against a summertime palette of orange sand and blue skies." - KIRKUS REVIEWS

If one is a snail and two is a person, we must be counting by feet! Just follow the sign to the beach, where a bunch of fun-loving crabs, lounging dogs, gleeful insects, and bewildered-looking snails obligingly offer their feet for counting in a number of silly, surprising combinations - from one to one hundred!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars engaging, witty way of counting   August 2, 2008
I bought this book for my children after borrowing it from the library, and I've just bought another copy for my god-daughter. The illustrations are adorable, and the concept of counting in animal feet is engaging.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent and Funny Counting Book   February 17, 2007
I loved the concept of this book and how they showed different ways of counting to 10, 20, 30, etc. Very humerous and can be quite interactive with kids.

What a fantastic book! Kids follow a story of a beach party where they learn how to count based on the number of feet on different animals! They can practice basic addition and counting by different sets (2's, 4's, 10's). The illustrations are so kid friendly and fun and the story you follow is sure to put a smile on your face, especially all that the crabs do!
I read this book to a class of Kindergarteners who recently had learned to count by 10's and were learning how to count by 2's. They had such a great time using their newly acquired skills and every page we had to stop on and count all the different feet as many ways as they knew how. It is a great educational book made fun for kids of all ages.

5 out of 5 stars Math should always be this much fun!   December 31, 2003

Creatures with varying amount of feet lend themselves to be part of a mathematical beach party. Youngsters are drawn into this story by bright, colorful humorous but simple illustrations. Crabs are the real stars as they bicycle, limbo, and play beach volleyball across the pages. While following the story, readers gain an understanding of numbers, counting, adding, and sets. Readers also discover the world of science while reading about these playful animals. Don't miss this very creative book.
