Product Description
With richly colorful photos and compelling, informative descriptions, John and Deborah Behler have carefully crafted a wonderful tribute to the amazingly complex frog. With decades of expertise in conservation, the Behlers are unequaled in their ability to capture the wild and ever-changing world of these amphibians—all 5,000 species. They reveal an unexpected diversity of form, lifestyle, and ecology, and take readers on a magical journey that makes vibrantly clear why these creatures are so important. Breathtaking and brilliant images show tadpoles in water and on leaves; a many-hued variety of frogs (bright blue, golden yellow and black, red and turquoise) in their environment; African sand frogs and chirping frogs; Oriental fire-bellied frogs; and tiny three-toed toadlets—among the smallest that exist. It’s a vision not to be missed.

One of the best general frog books available. March 31, 2008 This book (hardcover) has a beautiful lay out, well written text (nice letter type !) and especially the stunning photography! This together makes it in my view one of the best (general) frog books on the market today. Please do note the word "general", the information is targeted at anyone with an interest in frogs in general, a broad audience. Which should work fine in this case.
Great for Understanding and for Teachers January 17, 2008 I teach 6th grade and have this in my science reading corner. My students enjoy the book, and it is written close to their grade level; however the book is enjoyble to me as an adult and nature lover as well. It begins by a thoughrough introduction to frogs and amphibians. The book then delves into frog classification. The photos and diagrams are plentiful with many phottos of rare and unusual frogs.
Frogs and more beautiful frogs June 3, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are into frogs like me, you'll enjoy this book very much. Excellent pictures, great narrative and a wealth of information about these incredible creatures. Too bad, humans are destroying their habitats in the jungles. The other book about frogs with a lot more pictures is "Frogs" by David Badger. This is also a winner!
